Georg Reichard, Principal Owner

Dr. Georg Reichard is a registered Professional Engineer for Architectural Engineering in the Commonwealth of Virginia and the principal owner of Reichard BUILDING-SCIENCE Consulting and a Professor and Head of the Department of Building Construction at Virginia Tech.

Dr. Reichard is an active educator, researcher, and consultant. His expertise spans from building energy efficiency, to building systems integration, building performance analysis, and building performance management in general.

He has consulted on numerous projects ranging from design assistance and concept development for net zero energy projects to thermal and moisture related issues in building envelopes or acoustic improvements for interior spaces. Current academic research focuses on integrated system solutions for buildings, advanced building materials, and envelope performance innovations.

At Virginia Tech, Dr. Reichard is also the director of Building Enclosure and Systems Technologies (BEST) Lab, which is part of the Myers-Lawson School of Construction at Virginia Tech. In this role he brings the latest research findings back into the field as industry applications. At the same time his consulting provides for the opportunity to bring case studies back into the classroom and move emerging industry needs into focus for further academic research.
